Low-income seniors may apply for Safe, Clean Water parcel tax exemption

Are you 65 years old or older and own the home where you reside as your primary residence? If so, you may qualify for an exemption from the Safe, Clean Water parcel tax.

Valley Water offers this tax exemption to qualifying low-income seniors, potentially saving you approximately $75 on your property tax bill.

Application Period for 2025: The application window for the Safe, Clean Water low-income senior parcel tax exemption runs from April 15 to June 30, 2025. To learn more, visit valleywater.org/senior-parcel-tax-exemption.

Eligibility Criteria for 2025: To qualify for this exemption, you must meet all the following criteria:

  • You were born before June 30, 1961.
  • Your total household income for 2024 was below $71,640, including the gross income of all residents aged 18 or older (excluding capital gains).
  • You own the property where you reside as your primary home, and it is the site of the assessed tax.

Please note: Mobile homes located in parks and homes held in an irrevocable trust are not eligible.

How to Apply: Visit valleywater.org/senior-parcel-tax-exemption to access the application form. If you meet the criteria, complete and submit the form by mail or email, along with proof of your age.

Accepted documents for proof of age include a copy of your driver’s license, birth certificate, passport, or medical card showing your date of birth. Please ensure you provide only copies—do not mail original documents.
