A time of investment: Ensuring reliability and resilience

Valley Water has been committed to providing Santa Clara County with safe, clean water, flood protection, and environmental stewardship for nearly a century. Through smart investments, we can continue to ensure that the infrastructure that cleans, carries and stores your water remains safe and reliable.

On May 27, 2025, the Valley Water Board of Directors adopted a $948.1 million fiscal year 2025-26 budget to help provide our critical services to the county. In addition to the new budget, the Board adopted new water rates where the vast majority of the county will see a rate increase of 9.9% ($7.80 a month for an average household). The new budget and water rates were adopted after listening to public comments and staff recommendations through the rate-setting process. The new rates will take effect on July 1, 2025.

While we recognize that any rate increase has an impact, this funding is critical to supporting our aging infrastructure, improving water reliability and protecting our community from future water-related challenges.

Water rates are set equitably, with those who use more water paying more. Most residents get their water from local retailers who buy water. To understand how this rate increase may affect your water bill, visit our website to find your local retailer and view detailed rate information.

Rates help fund critical projects and services that ensure a reliable, safe water supply for Santa Clara County. This includes major infrastructure upgrades like the Anderson Dam Seismic Retrofit Project, which enhances public safety and water storage capacity, and the Rinconada Water Treatment Plant Reliability Project, which increases our ability to treat and deliver clean water. Rates also support environmental stewardship efforts to help our community prepare for climate change and protect our native environment.

We also continue to invest in conservation programs that help residents and businesses reduce their water use and lower their bills. Through our rebate programs, homeowners can receive up to $3,000 and businesses up to $100,000 for replacing lawns with water-efficient landscaping. We also offer tools and resources to help you fix leaks and adopt water-saving habits.

This is a time of critical investment. With your support, Valley Water will continue to build a resilient water future for everyone in Santa Clara County.
