Santa Clara County residents age 65 years or older may be eligible for a parcel tax exemption from the Safe, Clean Water and Natural Flood Protection Program special parcel tax approved by voters in November 2012.
The enrollment period for qualifying low-income seniors is open through Friday, June 30, 2017. To be approved, you must:
- Have a birth date before June 30, 1953
- Have a total household income for 2016 was less than $48,375
- Own a home and live in it as your primary residence
- Note: mobile homes in parks and homes that are in an irrevocable trust are not eligible for this exemption
New applicants must mail or deliver a signed application the water district headquarters office by June 30 to be exempt from the upcoming property tax year.

Hours: Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (closed noon to 1 p.m.)
Seniors who are already receiving the exemption do not need to re-apply. A verification letter and form will be mailed to participating seniors to verify continuing eligibility. To view a list of frequently asked questions click here.
